Join PTA
We invite you to join the Hirsch PTA!
Why join? Joining the Hirsch Elementary School (HES) PTA is a great way for parents to take an active role in their children’s school, and for teachers to further support the programs which help their students. In addition, although PTA members are not required to volunteer for the PTA, the many members who do so --- even for just one activity -- find great satisfaction knowing they have helped out with a program, provided input into planning for the future, helped decide how to spend funds, or determining which activities to sponsor. Your membership in the PTA helps produce HES programs and opportunities such as:
Family Math Night Accelerated Reading Bulldog Jog
Harvest Festival Movie Night Teacher-Staff Appreciation Spring Program
Field Trips Cultural Assemblies Talent Show Music for Minors
Who can join? Membership is open to adults who believe in the mission and purpose of the national PTA, namely, “To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children” (https://www.pta.org/). Members are parents, teachers, staff, and other significant adults in the lives of our child/ren. We hope that at least one adult from each HES family will consider becoming a member. HES has a strong tradition of membership from its parents, teachers and staff.
How do you join? For each $8 HES membership, $3.50 stays at our school and we are required to remit $4.50 as dues to the National ($2.25), State ($1.25) and Local ($1.00) PTAs. It’s easy to join by simply including your membership dues of $8 per person on the PTA membership and fund drive donation form.
Why Join the PTA
What is PTA? Why join PTA? The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more PTA advantages:
- Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.
- Discover Great Resources. The PTA offers a variety of programs designed for parents as well as students.
- Tap into a Network. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.
- Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering with your PTA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.
- Speak Up. PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.
- Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTAs play an important role in fundraising to provide building improvements, curriculum-based programs, and social events.
- Be a Role Model. By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
- Enjoy Substantial Benefits. Individuals and local units can take advantage of a host of benefits from PTA membership including discounts and offers from member benefits providers and sponsors, magazine subscriptions, leadership training, e-newsletters and much more.
- For less than 3 cents a day, you can become a PTA member, joining more than 5 million other people who share your interest in issues affecting children. Everyone—parents, educators, students and other citizens active in their schools and communities—is invited to join our not-for-profit parent association.
